Library Lines: Portland PDL Staff The library has had an abundance of great material donations from the community, and we would like to share the wealth! For three weeks only, we will be having a second Fill Your Bag event! The first one was such a huge success we thought we d do it again. Now through March 27, you will be able to purchase a bag for just $2 and fill it with as many puzzles, DVDs, books and CDs as you can. Finish up the winter with some fun! Get Creative with Cookies: A plethora of cookie-themed television shows has created a surge of interest in royal icing techniques, and now you can learn to pipe, flood, marble and decorate like a pro. Starting March 25, sign up for a take-and-make bag that contains everything you need to make a batch of royal icing and decorate a dozen cookies. Then follow along with our instructional YouTube video, which will be posted that same day. This program is limited to ten participants, so claim your spot today! Ages 16 ....

Although in its early days, there were no actual staff members, for nearly 125 years, Worthington Libraries has employed people who worked hard to make the library profession, the institution and the city better. During Women’s History Month, learn more about just a few of the women who made Worthington Libraries the nationally recognized library system it is today. The Fortnightly Club, a women’s Shakespeare study club, assumed management of the Worthington Reading Room and Library in November 1903. The next month, Mrs. B.C. McCullough, a club member, became the library’s first paid employee. In 1906, she oversaw the library’s move from space it occupied on the south side of the Kilbourne Building into rooms over Leasure ....
