Germany contributes 30 million euros for health in East African Community


ARUSHA, Tanzania – The Federal Republic of Germany today signed an intergovernmental agreement with the East African Community (EAC) to support regional health programs.
ARUSHA, Tanzania – The Federal Republic of Germany today signed an intergovernmental agreement with the East African Community (EAC) to support regional health programs. In total, 30 million euros (34 million USD) will be invested in vaccines and health supply chain management.
German development cooperation will provide 20 million euros for the procurement of vaccines against different diseases for children in the EAC. The program will be implemented in collaboration with GAVI.
This new commitment will bring Germany`s contribution to regional immunisation programs with the EAC to 60 million euros since 2012. Earlier in 2015, Germany hosted the record replenishment of the global vaccination alliance GAVI. As a result, an additional 300 million children will receive live-saving vaccines, including ....

German Government Provides a New Funding of EUR 182.6mn to Afghanistan


At a virtual conference on Wednesday, the German government promised commitment to supporting Afghanistan and pledged to provide the Government of Afghanistan with a new amount of about EUR 182.6 million (about AFN 17.4 billion) for bilateral cooperation. 
The Deputy Minister of Policy, Ministry of Finance, Nazir Kabiri headed the Afghan delegation. Professor Claudia Warning, Director-General Middle East, Asia, Latin America, South-Eastern Europe and Eastern Europe, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), headed the German delegation.
“We stand ready to work with the government and the many committed Afghans to contribute to a sustainable development of Afghanistan. We will only succeed in our joint efforts for a peaceful, socially just and economically strong Afghanistan if all actors are committed to a political solution to the ongoing conflict,” said DG Warning.  ....
