Businessmen reject gas supply suspension Cite mismanagement, incompetence as prime reasons behind the issue ISLAMABAD: A nationwide gas supply suspension is unacceptable as it will take a toll on the masses and industries while compressed natural gas (CNG) will be the most affected sector, said Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Nasir Hayat Maggo on Monday. Speaking at a press conference, he said that the gas crisis was the outcome of mismanagement as gas supply was being suspended across the country from June 29, which was because of incompetence. “Sales tax on LNG import by the CNG sector has been increased by 12% while 5% customs duty has been imposed, which should be reversed or else this sector will crumble,” he warned. ....
FBR launches Single Window Programme Pakistan Single Window will connect 74 departments that regulate imports, exports KARACHI: In order to improve Pakistan’s international trade, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has kicked off the soft launch of the Pakistan Single Window Programme (PSWP) with the intention of launching it officially in a couple of months, revealed PSWP Project Director Muhammad Imran Khan Mohmand. During an online seminar organised by the Central Standing Committee on Customs of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the FBR, FPCCI President Nasir Hayat Maggo said, “If it is implemented properly, it will be a dream-like situation in a country like Pakistan.” PSWP would connect 74 departments that regulated imports and exports and engaged in documentation, FPCCI’s Central Standing Committee on Customs Head Shabbir Mansha Churra told The Express Tribune. ....
Ziaul Haq Sarhadi retains FPCCI seat Peshawar March 6, 2021 PESHAWAR: A known businessman from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ziaul Haq Sarhadi has been re-elected as convener of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Standing Committee on Railways. The FPCCI President Naseer Hayat Maggo issued a notification in this regard, said a press release on Friday. Ziaul Haq remained the convener for the committee last year as well. Because of his vast experience in Afghan Transit Trade and Customs Clearance, he has worked on different forums for the promotion of commerce and trade in the region. He has served as vice-president of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and senior vice-president of Pak-Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. ....
