Lanfear Hill sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians

CFNR Network
Mar 16, 2021 4:22 PM
The City of Terrace announced the closure due to sloughing and ongoing erosion of the gravel shoulder. Due to the narrow roadway and steep slopes, the route will be closed for pedestrian use at this time.
The city will have a geotechnical safety assessment of the area completed to determine next steps. Vehicle use of the road currently remains in place.
The alternate route for pedestrians would be using the Howe Creek Trail network or the pedestrian path that runs from Mountain Vista Dr and Bailey St. to the bottom of the hill. ....

Vaccinating Tasmanians

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Health
Tasmanians have done a brilliant job working together to help keep on top of COVID and can be reassured that when a GP practice or State Clinic is ready to take bookings, you will know either through your GP or through Tasmanian Government communications.
Unfortunately, incorrect information about participating GP clinics has been released today which has led to unnecessary frustration for both patients and our GPs.
I raised my concerns with the Federal Minister earlier today, and I have been assured the confusion is being addressed, with clarity being provided to GP practices that they may choose to limit vaccinations to only their existing patients, if they wish. ....

Rare Bone Point Discovered in Australia - Archaeology Magazine

Rare Bone Point Discovered in Australia
Wednesday, March 17, 2021
ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA Researchers from Flinders University and Griffith University have analyzed a rare ancient bone point recovered in southern Australia,
Cosmos Magazine reports. In 2008, during excavations in collaboration with the Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal Corporation, archaeologists unearthed the artifact from a midden along the Lower Murray River, an area where bone objects had not been found since the 1970s. Now, they have dated the point to between 5,300 and 3,800 years ago and determined that it was fashioned from either kangaroo or wallaby bone. The artifact may have been used as a pin on a soft material such as a possum fur cloak, archaeologists Chris Wilson and Amy Roberts explained, or as a projectile point for hunting. To read about the use of stencils to create rock art in northern Australia, go to Miniature Masterpieces. ....
