MOORHEAD, Minn. Stacey Potter graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead in 1997, but her greatest lesson learned is just coming to light.
Potter’s first published novel, “The Project,” was inspired by a class assignment she had as a sophomore in which she volunteered for the “adopt-a-grandparent” program. There she met Amy, a resident who taught her something she could never learn in classrooms how to live.

Lethal Shot on Flowerpot will be released as a paperback and e-book on Thursday. It is the fourth book in her Travel Writer Cozy Mystery series, which follows a travel writer named Casey Robertson, her husband and her friends.

“It’s a retired reporter who is writing articles for a travel magazine and is travelling into small towns all over the place,” Young said. “I’m a retired reporter, so basically the characters are taken from people I’ve come across in my travels.”
