House supermajority wants separate voting on Cha-cha
MANILA, Philippines The House of Representatives will pursue its plan to decide and vote on the proposed liberalization of economic provisions in the 1987 Constitution separately from the Senate.
The supermajority coalition in the chamber has decided to support the separate voting procedure as stipulated in Resolution of Both Houses No. 2 of Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.
In a manifesto released on Thursday, leaders of political parties and power blocs expressed support for the
proposed amendments to restrictive economic provisions of the Charter and said “the House of Representatives and the Senate shall vote separately.” ....

Kampala, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) President Yoweri Museveni enjoys 65.02-percent support from voters, according to the first results of the elections held on Thursday, the Electoral Commission of Uganda reported on Friday.
Simon Byabakama, head of the institutional body, noted that the president has so far won 65.02 percent of the ballots, whereas the leading opposition candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has won 27.39 percent of votes, after about one-fourth of the votes have been counted.
According to the official, Patrick Amuriat ranks third with a 3.6-percent support, whereas the other seven candidates running for president have less than 1 percent of the ballots, and, although this data are preliminary, they show the trends of the electorate. ....
