GODFREY Larry Trent and incumbent Dwight Werts won seats on the Lewis and Clark Community College Board of Trustees, according to incomplete and unofficial results Tuesday evening.
With all but one precinct in Madison County in, Trent was the top vote-getter receiving 10,605 votes. Werts received 10,403.
Challenger Jack Holmes had 7,908 votes, and Jeffrey D. Ferguson 6,866.
Both Trent and Werts scored decisive victories in Madison County, with each receiving more than 7,200 votes. Holmes and Ferguson scored less than 5,000 each.
The race was closer in Macoupin, Jersey, Greene and Calhoun counties. ....

ALTON Brian Fogarty and Ruth Kvistad of the Alton Memorial Hospital EMS team are both heading to medical school later this year.
Kvistad said she hadn’t planned on more school. An EMT with Alton Memorial Hospital’s EMS team since November 2020, she has even loftier goals. Neither of her parents had college degrees, and her high school wasn’t pushing students to apply.
Then, during her senior year, Kvistad was cleaning out fryers as part of a fundraiser for a local organization. One of her co-volunteers accidentally opened the valve at the bottom of a fryer and a mixture of boiling water, soap and remnant oil gushed onto Kvistad’s foot badly burning her. ....

Metro resumes most pre-pandemic bus routes in Missouri as of March 15


Metro Transit will make adjustments to 45 bus routes in Missouri and Illinois Monday, March 15, as part of a quarterly service change. These adjustments will increase service frequency for many MetroBus routes, including 10 routes returning to 15-minute weekday daytime service, and will create better MetroLink and MetroBus connections.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Metro made several changes to transit services over the last 12 months to “maintain safe operations while matching available resources to ridership needs,” operator Bi-State Development Agency said in a news release Monday.
With new safety measures in place, including innovations in vehicle cleaning and disinfecting, Metro said it is now able to safely resume pre-pandemic weekday service on most MetroBus routes in Missouri. Regular service was previously restored on Illinois MetroBus routes. ....
