New Delhi, Dec 18 : The rollout of Covid-19 vaccine by Bharat Biotech for the general public may get delayed as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where its Phase-III human clinical trial is underway, is struggling to find takers of the trial shots, the official heading the project told IANS.
While speaking to IANS, Sanjay Rai, the doctor who is the principal investigator (PI) of Covaxin trial, stated that there are chances that the vaccine may get delayed for the public use if the participation of subjects in the trial does not go up. ....

New Delhi, Dec 18 : The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has planned for an extensive publicity campaign to achieve the desired number of candidates it committed to the ethics committee for the Phase-III trial of Covid-19 vaccine by Bharat Biotech, currently underway in the institute, the officials informed IANS.
The trial underway for Covaxin, the Bharat Biotech vaccine, is struggling to find takers for its shots and this despite the phase-I trial showing encouraging results. ....

GMC Srinagar Conducts ICMR National Sero-Survey For COVID-19 Round-3 In Pulwama


SRINAGAR: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the top medical research organization is the conducting the third round of national sero-survey for COVID-19 titled ‘National sero-surveillance to monitor the trend of SARS-CoV-2 infection transmission in India: Community-based surveillance’ across 60 districts and 10 hot-spot sites among all states and union territories of the country to see the changing trend of population response to SARS COV-2 infection over these months since the second round was held in July-August this year where the prevalence of IgG antibody titres was found 27.3% among the general population in the Pulwama district.
In the third round, the data will again be collected through app-based and blood samples will be taken to assess immunoglobulin-Gamma (Ig-G) against SARS-CoV-2 which will determine infection in recent past and the body’s immune response to the SARS CoV-2 infection. Each selected site collects data and blood samples of 400 part ....

A group, the Network on Behavioural Research for Child Survival in Nigeria (NETBRECSIN), said it had elected six leaders for the of Public Health and Community Medicine, West African College of Physicians (WACP); National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN); and Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.
NETBRECSIN, which started in 2011 with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund, provides direction and leadership in strengthening partnerships between training institutions and key stakeholders for improved primary health care in Nigeria.
A statement by the network’s Chairman, Prof. Bayo Onajole, and Secretary, Alphonsus Isara, stated that the six leaders were top medical scholars with decades of teaching and research experiences in medicine. ....
