Texas bill would cap insulin prices, addressing skyrocketing costs

A bipartisan bill aimed at limiting the skyrocketing cost of insulin medication diabetics need to survive is nearing the legislative finish line with little more than a week before lawmakers head home.
Even for insured Texans, one month’s supply of the drug can cost more than $1,000. At least 15 states have passed similar legislation with insulin co-pay caps ranging from $25 to $100, said Veronica De La Garza, Director of State Government Affairs for the American Diabetes Association.
Senate Bill 827 would cap the co-pay on insulin at $25 for a 30-day supply for those with health benefits. This is regardless of the amount or type of insulin prescribed. ....

AUSTIN, Texas â The Texas Senate on Thursday passed House Bill 54, better known as Javier Amblerâs Law.
If signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott, which remains to be seen, the bill would prevent state and local law enforcement from entering into contracts with reality shows. ....
