Livermore council to hear final update from Equity and Inclusion Subcommittee


Group has prepared list of 10 recommendations for consideration

The Livermore City Council is set to receive the final report and recommendations from the city s Equity and Inclusion Subcommittee and citizen working group on Monday evening.
Vice Mayor Trish Munro and Councilmember Bob Carling co-chaired the subcommittee for phase two, which kicked off in February. The concluding Equity and Inclusion working group meeting was held on June 15 and the subcommittee s official sunset date was June 21.
During this second and last phase of the subcommittee, each subgroup of the citizen working group composed of residents, working under the council subcommittee was tasked with developing a culminating project. The council will receive an update on the status and progress of those various projects. ....

Council Considers All-Electric Plans


LIVERMORE — The Livermore City Council this week considered a framework for an electrification ordinance that would eliminate gas from all new construction and increase the number of charging stations for electric vehicles.
Tricia Pontau, an associate planner with the city, presented the framework, which came out of the Climate Action Plan (CAP) update underway since early 2020. The CAP measures propose to adopt reach codes — which are voluntarily more stringent than state building codes — requiring all-electric new buildings and expanding requirements for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. New construction would be required to help facilitate electric vehicle adoption citywide by making 20% to 30% of its parking spaces capable of charging electric vehicles and at least one operational Level II EV charger in new multi-family and nonresidential developments. ....
