Creative nourishment kits to go to 21,000 Sussex students February 11, 2021 Freeman Arts volunteers are assembling more than 21,000 creative nourishment kits to distribute to area students during remote and hybrid learning. SUBMITTED PHOTO Freeman Arts Pavilion’s latest initiative to ensure local students have access to arts experiences despite limited in-person opportunities will benefit more than 21,000 children. A program of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, Freeman Arts is a fundraising arts nonprofit located in Selbyville. It partners with schools on Delmarva to build a relevant, dynamic arts in education program through its Arts Access Initiative. Its most recent project, called creative nourishment kits, will fill the void of arts education programs as teachers and parents continue to face the demands of remote and hybrid learning. ....

The project is being led by Milford Central Academy teacher and principal, Alex March and Gary Zoll. “The project is a partnership between the Milford School District and the Educational Passages Miniboat Program,” Trish Gerken, Public Information Officer for Milford School District, said. “Students and staff work together to create, deploy and track their own miniboat. This gives students in the district the opportunity to learn critical STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) skills, explore ocean currents and discover future career opportunities.” ....
