The 84 total burglaries all took place between October 2020 and March 2021, in eight different New Jersey counties: Morris, Bergen, Essex, Somerset, Passaic, Monmouth, Middlesex and Union, as well as lower New York state. ....
A 41-year-old Totowa resident was discovered dead in a hotel on Route 46 Thursday morning after he failed to check out of his room, prosecutors announced. Hotel staff at the Ramada Inn in Totowa checked on the man, Gary Potenzone Jr., and discovered him deceased, authorities said. He was identified by officers upon their arrival to the scene, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor s Office. Prosecutors said an autopsy likely will be performed next week to determine the manner in which Potenzone died. ....

Gary Potenzone, Jr., 41, had “failed to check out as scheduled” from the Ramada Inn in Totowa, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Totowa Police Chief Carmen Veneziano said. So staff went to his room to conduct a welfare check around 11:30 a.m. and called police after finding his body, they said. No wrongdoing was immediately suspected. “There were no signs of physical force or violence at the scene, and the police do not believe there is any imminent danger to anyone in community,” Valdes and Veneziano explained in a joint statement. ....
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Totowa Police Chief Carmen Veneziano announce that at approximately 11:40 a.m. today, officers responded to the Ramada Inn located at 1 Route 46 West in Totowa on a report of a deceased male discovered inside of a hotel room.
Upon their arrival, officers were able to identify the deceased as Gary Potenzone, Jr., 41, from Totowa. Police say the investigation revealed that hotel staff went to the room to conduct a welfare check when Mr. Potenzone failed to check out as scheduled. There were no signs of physical force or violence at the scene, and the police do not believe there is any imminent danger to anyone in community. ....
