USD breaks ground on new School of Health Sciences, set to open in 2023
The future of South Dakota’s health sciences expanded Thursday as the University of South Dakota broke ground for construction of the new School of Health Sciences.
Delta Dental of South Dakota Foundation also announced a $1 million donation to the new School to support USD’s dental hygiene program. In honor of the gift, USD’s community dental hygiene clinic will bear the name “Delta Dental Oral Health Center.”
“This is truly a momentous day for the future of the University of South Dakota but also for the health and well-being for all the citizens in this state,” USD president Sheila Gestring said. “The past few months have demonstrated for us the importance of a world-class health care infrastructure.” ....

USD breaks ground on new School of Health Sciences building; Announces $1 million gift from Delta Dental

The University of South Dakota broke ground on the new School of Health Sciences building and announced a $1 million gift from the Delta Dental of South Dakota Foundation on April 1.
The gift from the South Dakota dental benefits provider’s foundation will support USD’s dental hygiene program. In honor of the gift, the new community dental hygiene clinic at USD will be named the Delta Dental Oral Health Center.
The new three-story, 45,000 square-foot School of Health Sciences building will be connected to the Andrew E. Lee Memorial Medicine and Science Building. In addition to the Delta Dental Oral Health Center, there will be modern classrooms, health science labs, simulation centers, study spaces and faculty offices. ....
