WARRIORS coach Zdravko Logarusic will be keeping his fingers crossed for the next few weeks as star player Khama Billiat is likely to be unavailable for the crucial African Cup of Nations qualifying football games against Botswana and Zambia because of injury.
The Warriors are set to play Botswana away on March 22 before wrapping up the qualifying campaign against Zambia the following week at home.
However, Billiat, who has been the mainstay of Zimbabwe’s campaign in the last two editions, will be racing against time ahead of the decisive games after his South African club Kaizer Chiefs confirmed that he would need two months to recover after cracking his leg bone. ....

Khama Billiat Out For Two Months With Broken Leg

ZIMBABWE Warriors attacking midfielder Khama Billiat is set to be sidelined for two months after suffering a leg bone crack in Kaizer Chiefs’ 2-0 loss against Maritzburg United last weekend.
Billiat was injured in a poor tackle from Travis Graham, in Saturday’s league, and had to be substituted three minutes after half time.
Chiefs announced the news on social media, saying that the 30-year-old Billiat will be absent until March.
“Injury Update: Khama Billiat has a cracked leg bone and will be out for 2 months. We wish him a speedy recovery. #Amakhosi4Life,” Kaizer Chiefs said in a statement on Twitter. ....

As of Tuesday, 12 January 2021, the cumulative number of detected Covid-19 cases is 1,259,748 with 13,105 new cases identified, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has confirmed.
755 more Covid-19 related deaths were reported, with 134 from Eastern Cape, 26 from Free State, 225 from Gauteng, 218, from Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN), 11 from Limpopo, 11 from Mpumalanga, 4 from North West, 2 from Northern Cape and 128 from Western Cape.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 34,334. ....

A beacon of light and hope - Oracabessa brings Christmas tree to life with art after 20 years

For the first time in 20 years, the large acacia tree in the centre of Oracabessa, St Mary, has come alive with lights and Jamaican artistry – just in time for Christmas.
The tree, the largest on the main street in the St Mary town, where many depend on the tourism industry, has become a conversation piece since it was officially lit Wednesday evening.
Its revival is being described as a beacon of light and hope, in a community impacted by the gloom and desolation caused by COVID-19.
Oracabessa residents, many of whom are dependent on the tourist industry, were not about to remain dispirited with their current situation. Instead, they have drawn on the talent that abounds in their area, pulling out local artists and artisans, whose work of handmade ornaments adorn the tree, while their banners of optimism line the streets. ....
