Tucson Local Media sold to Times Media Group


Tucson Local Media announced today that the newspaper group was being acquired by Times Media Group of Phoenix. Terms were not disclosed.
Tucson Local Media, which has been owned by 13th Street Communications, will continue to publish its six Pima County newspapers: Inside Tucson Business, Explorer, Marana News, Foothills News, Desert Times and Tucson Weekly.
Times Media Group President and Publisher Steve Strickbine said he was excited by the opportunity to enter the Tucson market and “continue to provide community news.”
Strickbine first entered the newspaper business when he launched the Scottsdale Times in 1998 and has grown his company to include more than a dozen weekly newspapers in the Phoenix and Southern California markets. ....

As violent insurrectionists invaded the U.S. Capitol in attempts to stop the certification of the electoral college results, one Arizona lawmaker was present for the fallout.
On the day “Stop the Steal” rioters breached the Capitol in a rally that resulted in five deaths, State Rep. Mark Finchem tweeted a photo of Trump-flag adorning rioters with the caption: “What happens when the People feel they have been ignored, and Congress refuses to acknowledge rampant fraud. #stopthesteal.”
He has since deleted his Twitter account and moved his social media posts to Gab, a popular platform among alt-right groups. ....
