CHESHIRE â The future of the Humiston School building continues to occupy the interest of School Modernization Committee members.
And it now appears that the group is content to wait longer before coming to a final decision on what the future may hold for the townâs oldest school building, which was constructed in 1912 and is now home to school district offices and the high school alternative education program. It is located at 30 Spring St.   Â

CHESHIRE â Tensions and frustrations ran high during the most recent School Modernization Committee meeting, where members ultimately decided to push the deadline for presenting a proposal to the Town Council from March 1 to June.
The decision came after multiple members expressed concern over the pace of the committeeâs work and a lack of information over the past few months.Â
âI am really starting to feel like we are going backwards now,â said member Kate OâDonnell, at the Wednesday virtual meeting. âI feel like all the work we did over the past few months was really for nothing.â

CHESHIRE â The School Modernization Committee has been reviewing potential options for its infrastructure plan over the past three weeks, and it appears the group has narrowed it to two different scenarios.Â
Over the course of two recent meetings, the group went through the specifics of the proposals, focusing attention on what the initial phases of those proposals would require. The first of the two plans would include the construction of a new elementary school and a full renovation of Dodd Middle School. To execute this, the proposal calls for the town to spend approximately $159.4 million. The second plan would involve building a brand new middle school capable of instructing students in grad

CHESHIRE â The School Modernization Committee is beginning to finalize which plans it will ultimately recommend to the Town Council for modernizing school buildings.
Recently, the committee asked its members to vote on various renovation scenarios in order to determine which they felt would be best for the community. The survey, designed by the groupâs Options Subcommittee, was distributed to members and, at a meeting earlier this month, Committee Chair Jen Bates presented the results to the group.
Bates indicated that there were 13 different scenarios included in the survey, and ultimately six of them received the greatest number of votes.
