UNBC could become first Canadian University to offer free menstrual products in bathrooms

After a new initiative, the University of Northern BC could become the first University in the country to offer free menstrual products on its campuses.
Known as the Period Promise Campaign, started by the United Way, aims to tackle the issue of period poverty – many people who need to use these products cannot afford them.
The Northern British Columbia Graduate Student Society has been advocating for UNBC to provide free menstrual products in all of its washrooms, but the project still has a little ways to go. ....

Women Getting COVID-19 Vaccine Should Wait To Get Mammograms
Medical experts said women should wait four to six weeks after their second COVID-19 vaccine before getting a mammogram. The vaccine can lead to temporary swelling of the lymph nodes. That inflammation is usually a sign that more tests are needed for breast cancer. Doctors want that swelling to go down before doing a mammogram. Brett Parkinson, medical director of Intermountain Healthcare’s Breast Care Center, said this isn’t an excuse to skip the exam though. “Breast cancer does not stop because of the pandemic or because of the vaccine,” Parkinson said. “Postponing it by a month or two would not be that impactful, but postp ....

Democratic Rep. Carol Spackman Moss wants to make consent a part of Utah’s health education. Spackman Moss said that would give students the tools to protect themselves. Utah is an opt-in state, where parents have to sign off on their student’s health education. Prince George Airport Authority President (PGAA) and CEO, Gord Duke says his first year in the role was one for the books.
At the beginning of the pandemic, Duke assumed that COVID-19 would only hit the supply chain and impact the transportation of items from Asia.
“We went out and secured a year’s worth of elements like de-icing fluid and things that we use to keep the airport safe and operational,” Duke said.
