NC Gov. Roy Cooper lifting outdoor mask mandate. Masks will still be required indoors.


Starting Friday, North Carolinians can go mask-less outdoors and will be able to gather outside in larger groups, Gov. Roy Cooper said Wednesday.
The change, which goes into effect at 5 p.m. Friday, would also allow youth and high school outdoor sports teams to play without masks.
Masks remain required for most indoor activities outside the household.
With the order, Cooper goes a step beyond the latest COVID-19 outdoor guidelines from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which allow for people to go without masks in individual activities.
The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services still strongly recommends masking outdoors in crowded areas and higher-risk settings where social distancing is difficult. ....

There were two new COVID-19 deaths announced by health officials in New Hampshire on Sunday.One death was a woman from Grafton County, the other a man from Hillsborough County. Both were 60 years of age and older.There were 284 new cases announced, with active cases decreasing to 2,960 people cur ....

More walk-in appointments added for COVID-19 vaccine.


Novant Health Inc., Wake Forest Baptist Health and the Forsyth County Department of Public Health are offering more walk-in vaccination slots, as experts say the drop in requests for the vaccine may slow herd immunity. 
Novant is providing walk-in vaccinations at its Hanes Mall site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. The number of walk-in slots is subject to available supply each day.
People with appointments can opt for a walk-in appointment or reschedule for an earlier slot at www.GetVaccinated.org.
Walk-in vaccinations allow people to get their doses in the flow of their lives, said Dr. David Priest, an infectious disease expert with Novant. ....
