And as the battle for fairer voting laws rages on, politicians and activists on the political Right claim they are responding to allegations of widespread voter and election fraud. Those on the Left say they are rallying to fight a coordinated political offensive to restrict access to the polls and increasing reports of voter suppression.

Essentially, EV drivers would have to pay additional taxes somewhere between $240 and $400 a year because politicians in the state want them to pay for the equivalent of fuel taxes they would otherwise pay, Clean Technica reported.
The bill consists of a $190 to $240 annual EV fee, a $150+ fee for driving 9,000 miles/year, and a $10 annual surcharge for a new charging infrastructure advisory council.
The bill is sponsored by two Republicans, Sens. Charles Schwertner and Robert Nichols, and one Democrat, Sen. Beverly Powell. 
Senator Schwertner is a physician who was backed by several energy firms like Atmos Energy Corporation PAC, Entergy Corporation Political Action Committee (EnPAC), and CenterPoint Energy, Inc. Texas Political Action Committee, to name a few, during his recent election, according to Transparency USA. ....

New Mexico is now administering the Pfizer vaccine for COVID-19 to children ages 12 to 15, as state health officials pushed Thursday for more people to get vaccinated.
The move by the state Health Department follows authorizations this week by the federal Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The state is encouraging families to register children on its vaccine website.
The expanded availability applies only to the Pfizer vaccine, which until now was only available to people ages 16 and older. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are authorized for people 18 and older.
State officials say more than half of eligible residents are now considered fully vaccinated. ....

Jaye Sanford, a 52-year-old mother of two, was driving home in suburban Atlanta on Nov. 21 when a man in a Dodge Challenger muscle car who was allegedly street racing crashed into her head-on, killing her.
Sanford was remembered by friends as kind and thoughtful, but now she will also be remembered for something else: a new state law that requires jail time for all convictions for drag racing and stunt driving.
