GoLocalProv | Crowne Plaza Warwick Completes $25 Million Renovation

The Carpionato Group on Thursday helped cut the ribbon along with city officials in Warwick on the completion of the $25 million in renovations at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. 
The hotel which first opened in 1987, has 266 rooms and in 2018, the last year for full operation before the renovation began,  booked 34,400 group room nights in addition to the 38,200 leisure room nights sold. 
“We are so grateful for our friends who helped us survive during the pandemic including Senator Reed, Senator Whitehouse, Congressman Langevin and Congressman Cicilline who supported the creation of the Paycheck Protection Program that allowed us to keep many of our employees working during the downturn, to Warwick’s City Council, fire department, building inspector and public works departments that helped us with the permitting process during this renovation,” s ....

Two New Coast Guard Cutters Heading to Newport


After speaking with Admiral Karl L. Schultz, Coast Guard Commandant, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), the Chairman of the Armed Services Committee and a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, today announced that Rhode Island will serve as the homeport for two new 270-foot Coast Guard medium-endurance cutters, which will be based out of Naval Station Newport, each with a crew of 100.  These Coast Guard cutters are scheduled to arrive in the fall of next year.
The USGC Tahoma (WMEC-908) and USCGC Campbell (WMEC 909), two of the Coast Guard’s fleet of twenty-nine medium-endurance cutters in service, will be coming to Rhode Island from their previous homeport at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire.  Both vessels will continue conducting missions pertaining to maritime law enforcement, homeland security, and search and rescue missions in support of Coast Guard operations throughout the Western Hemisphere. ....
