Va. Attorney General s office creating unit focusing on workers rights By: Erica Greenway and last updated 2021-03-04 12:11:05-05 RICHMOND, Va. â A new unit is being created within the state attorney generalâs office focused on protecting workers and educating them on their rights. Attorney General Mark Herring made the announcement Wednesday. The unit will be made up of a team of prosecutors and attorneys who will work to investigate people and businesses that are exploiting workers. Herring says the first area the Worker Protection Unit will focus on is worker misclassification, wage theft and payroll fraud. According to a 2012 report by the Joint Audit and Legislative Review Commission, up to a third of audited employers in certain industries misclassify employees. ....
SunStar + March 02, 2021 FOUR women charged for online sexual exploitation pleaded guilty in two separate cases in Lapu-Lapu City last Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021. These four convictions came as an early celebration for Cebu as they occurred a day before the nation commemorated the 35th anniversary of the Edsa Revolution. The first conviction that day stemmed from a sting operation conducted by the Women and Children Protection Center Visayas Field Unit (WCPC-VFU) on March 21, 2019. The unit was able to rescue two boys and seven girls and arrest three female suspects who were all related to the nine minors removed from the scene. The suspects were charged with qualified trafficking in persons under Republic Act 10364 and violating the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 under RA 10175. ....

To combat the growing number of predators, Louisiana s Cyber Crimes Unit is part of the worldwide Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Itâs a joint effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Their job is not an easy one. âWe have affiliates prosecutorial and law enforcement federal, state and local law enforcement in order to combat online child exploitation,â said Corey Bourgeois, commander of the ICAC Louisiana Task Force. âNinety-five percent of what we do is all online child exploitation.â ....
