Kozhikode: Noted development economist Dr Jean Dreze has strongly advocated an urban employment guarantee scheme as part of efforts to address the twin problems of poverty, particularly during exigencies like the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and gender inequality through governments programmes and policies. ICGE : Minister emphasises need to promote social entrepreneurship in a big way
Kozhikode, Feb 11 (UNI) Kerala Health and Social Justice Minister K K Shailaja emphasised the need to promote social entrepreneurship in a big way for the uplift of the marginalised sections and ensuring gender equality by empowering and mainstreaming women and transgender persons.
Speaking after inaugurating the three-day second edition of International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE) which began at the Gender Park Campus here on Thursday, the Minister said the South Asia’s first Gender Park set up in the state will extend total support to enterprises of women and transgender persons, which is a major component of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. ....

Kerala CM to launch Gender Park Campus on Feb 14, will lay foundation stone for IWTRC
Kozhikode, Feb 11 (UNI) India will get its pioneering Gender Park Campus this Sunday when Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will launch its government initiative at Kozhikode that aims to contribute to the gender discourse in South Asia in association with the UN Women.
At the ceremony in suburban Silver Hills in the city, Mr Vijayan will formally dedicate a Gender Museum, Gender Library, Convention Centre and an Amphitheatre as facilities to boost gender equality in the region through research, policy advice and uniquely conceptualized interventions, a release said here on Thursday. ....

Stressing the need for a better ecosystem for women empowerment, Health Minister K.K. Shylaja on Thursday said the State government was ready to draft a clear policy for the promotion of social entrepreneurship in Kerala.

‘Sustainability’ to the core theme of the event organised by Gender Park
Conforming to the global sustainable development agenda in letter and spirit, the International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE) organised by the Gender Park in Kozhikode on February 11, 12 and 13 will be the State’s first fully carbon neutral event.
A press release said here on Tuesday that the Gender Park, under the Department of Women and Child Development, is organising the second edition of ICGE in association with UN Women.
