Tallmadge won t seek third term, Lautenbacher throws hat in ring | Dunwoody News

DUNWOODY, Ga. – District 1 Dunwoody City Council member Pam Tallmadge says she will not seek re-election in November, and has endorsed a longtime community volunteer, Catherine Lautenbacher, who will run for her seat. Tallmadge, who stepped into the District 1 seat when Dennis Shortal ran for mayor in 2015, said she had mixed feelings about her decision, but that Lautenbacher would be an excellent representative. “I have always said from the beginning that I believe in term limits on every level – local, statewide, national and worldwide,” Tallmadge said. “History is great, but I think there is a time when you need fresh eyes.”

Mayor updates Rotarians as city looks to recovery

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch last week gave the Rotary Club of Dunwoody an update on the impact of the pandemic on the city and upcoming changes and additions to opportunities to live, dine, work, shop and hike in the city today and in the years ahead. DeKalb County apportioned Dunwoody $6 million in federal CARES Act funding. The mayor said the city allotted those funds to organizations that serve vulnerable populations, including the Community Assistance Center, I Care Atlanta, Inc., Malachi’s, mental health services, food supplies, and rent assistance. There has been 42 percent increase in demand for food and other assistance in the past year.
