Mold Town Council held its first virtual Community Awards evening on March 25. Mayor of Mold, Councillor Teresa Carberry, said: “This year Mold Town Council received over 150 nominations with 55 groups, businesses and individuals nominated. We often hear people say how difficult it is to pick the winners – but believe me it really was. It was inspirational to hear how people had worked in creative and multi-various ways to help others. Quite simply, the nominees saw a local need and stepped in to fill it – they have combined compassion with pragmatism and many of us owe them a debt of gratitude. Everyone nominated has enriched the lives of our community, by their actions. ....

The Songwrights Apothecary Lab is a curated portal of new work that is growing out of spalding’s collaborative practice over the past years, exploring how songwriters might meaningfully incorporate therapeutic practices and knowledge into their process and production. Today she is sharing new music forged in the lab, which will continue to grow over the next several months as spalding continues to experiment with creating in this way. The Songwrights Apothecary Lab follows her GRAMMY-winning and truly intoxicating (NY Times) 12 Little Spells album, which explored the salutary power of sound and words, and how music and the body interact. ....
Cars will not be allowed to park near a village school at pick-up and drop-off times as part of a council parking trial. The new initiative, called school streets, will see six schools in the county try the parking scheme, including Askam Village School. The school will be the first in the area to trial the regime, with no cars allowed to park outside at key times. Councillors questioned Rob Lewis, senior manager for Cumbria Highways, on the scheme at a Cumbria County Council local committee for Barrow meeting, and expressed frustration at the fact that they had not been consulted on the choice of school. ....
