Unofficial election results show 637 people, or about 56%, voting against adding the deputy position, and 573 people, 47%, voting for. Lane County Sheriff Cliff Harrold said he thinks the measure would provide improved service for residents of the valley, but he didn t rule out that the outcome could change given how close the votes are. McKenzie School District is asking residents to approve a bond measure for school building upgrades in the May 18 Special Election. The bond measure asks voters for $15. 2 million to be repaid over 25 years to fund projects such as a complete rebuild of the elementary school, retrofitting schools to be earthquake-safe, and improvements to outdated HVAC and security systems. If voters approve the bond measure, the district also will get $4 million in a matching state grant through the Oregon School Capital Improvement program. Homeowners would see an increase of approximately $1.92 per $1,000 of assessed property value, according to the district s information sheet. For a $210,174 house this would be about $404 a year. ....
