Waterford man who cares for his son calls for family carers to be included in vaccine roll-out

Waterford, Ireland / WLR
Jan 29, 2021 11:50 AM
Family carers from across the country are calling on the government and the HSE to include them in a ‘vaccination priority group’ so they can protect their loved ones against Covid-19.
Last week, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly responded to questions about the issue in the Dáil and the issue was raised once again yesterday by Waterford Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane.
Today I raised the issue of the vaccine rollout for family carers. Carers who work for the HSE & private providers are in category 2. Family carers are not seen as a distinct cohort by this Government & yet they are with the Flu Vaccine. They cannot be forgotten. @CarersIrelandpic.twitter.com/OUXtejOAVD ....

'The rug was pulled from under us in a very cruel way' - Mother pleads for schools to reopen

Linda Comerford remains deeply dismayed as she tries constantly to prevent her daughter Shauna, who has autism, from having yet another meltdown . The seven-year-old girl s behaviour continues to regress since her schooling was stopped by the pandemic.
I m just running on adrenaline. Shauna suffers bouts of uncontrolled screaming and throws herself on the ground and breaks things.
She loves school, where she enjoyed having a structure in her life that she so badly needs, said Linda (39), a mother of four living in rural Skeoughvosteen, near Graiguenamanagh in Co Kilkenny. ....
