The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi announced a Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Thursday afternoon.
The rain is expected to continue through Sunday.
As of 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, the weather service said residents should expect frequent lightning, harsh winds and small hail during today s storms.
Just before 8:15 a.m., crews for the Texas Department of Transportation began rerouting traffic off the U.S. Highway 77 frontage roads between Robstown and Calallen because of rising water. Several roads have closed due to weather.
Numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop across South Texas Wednesday due to a slow moving storm system. Flash flooding and rapid rises in streams and rivers were anticipated because of periods of heavy rainfall. ....

WEATHER BLOG: CCISD places three schools in lockdown due to weather


1:29 p.m. - The Hooks game against Arkansas scheduled for tonight at Whataburger Field has been postponed.
It will be made up as part of a double-header tomorrow at Whataburger Field beginining at 4:15 p.m.
12:58 p.m. - The City of Kingsville is asking residents to consider all roads closed until further notice.
Please consider all city roads closed, as many streets are covered in deep water and emergency crews may not be able to get to you. State roads are flooded as well, says a release from the city.
The city has recorded 8 to 10 inches of stormwater at different points in the city and the rain is still coming down, according to officials. ....
