When Nick Jungfer, 27, and his partner Maddie Rhodes, 26, made the move from Adelaide to Sydney in December 2019, their cost of living jumped dramatically and they knew they needed to find a way to save.
The couple realised they no longer needed their two cars in Sydney and would instead get around on public transport, cycling and walking.
When we moved to Sydney we were looking at paying almost double the rent we were previously paying and we needed to find different ways that we could save money. It just made sense to ditch the cars, which we couldn t afford anyway, Nick said. ....

Queenslanders are overtaking the rest of the nation in making fast cash from their cars, with some pocketing $1000 a week.
Since April the number of people hiring out their vehicles has jumped by 169 per cent, with residents in West End, Fortitude Valley, South Brisbane, New Farm and Surfers Paradise making most use of the Car Next Door online service.

The Tasmanian Government acknowledges that the reintroduction of some border restrictions resulting from the NSW COVID-19 outbreak to keep Tasmanians safe is impacting on our tourism industry.
Prior to the outbreak in NSW, work was underway to assist with rental car shortages in Tasmania over the peak holiday period.
