The New York Islanders were taking on the Boston Bruins in post-season action Wednesday night and Nicole Raviv had been assigned to sing the National Anthem. No biggie, she s one of the Islanders go-to performers for that task for a long time, but this night was different. The coliseum announcer introduced the colors and then said that Nicole would lead them as they sing together the National Anthem. As soon as she started Nicole realized that the crowd was really into it, so she lowered her microphone and gave them their moment. And what a moment it was. It gives me goosebumps. ....
Belated ceremony especially meaningful to 2020 MSU graduate Andy Newberry Graduation is a milestone. And it’s always a reason to celebrate. For Kayla Khan, it was even more meaningful after her graduation ceremony was delayed one year. Khan was honored as one of the Midwestern State University Spring 2020 graduating class that walked the stage June 5 at Kay Yeager Coliseum. Khan earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology (minor in medical sociology). “I see this graduation as a celebration; it means just as much to me now as it would have last year,” Khan said. Khan’s challenges for her senior year were large-scale, even just taking into account her academic goals. She registered for six classes in Spring 2020 so she could graduate in May. ....

Wichita Falls High School seniors celebrated their graduation in a ceremony Thursday at Kay Yeager Coliseum. They are the 130th graduating class of Old High Coyotes, and they marched across the stage to receive their diplomas in the iconic red gowns of their school. The threat of severe weather Thursday evening prompted a last minute change from an outdoor ceremony at Memorial Stadium to indoors at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. But the rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the students, teachers, other WFISD staff members and families for celebrating this major milestone in the teens lives. The WFHS valedictorian for 2021 is Robert Horvath. He has a grade point average of 5.0, and his parents are Eva and Alex Horvath. ....
