Teachers' union asks Quebec to consider air purifiers for classrooms

The Centrale des unions du Québec (CSQ), Quebec’s largest teachers’ union, called on Education Minister Jean-François Roberge Sunday not to rule out installing air purifiers in school classrooms.
Quebec’s public health department has said that it does not recommend installing the devices in classrooms to avoid spreading aerosols contaminated with COVID-19.

School boards, some scientists puzzled after Quebec says classroom air filters don't work

School officials across Montreal were caught off guard on Friday by a new pronouncement from the province: it doesn’t think air purifiers work as a way to limit COVID-19 spread in classrooms.
“We don’t recommend those filtration devices,” said Dr. Richard Massé of the provincial institute of public health during an announcement about the plan to reopen Quebec schools in person beginning next week.
The institute just did a study that found that air purifiers don’t limit virus transmission which had some scientists and Montreal-area school boards scratching their heads, since there’s plenty of other research showing they do.  ....
