The virtual symposium titled “Learning Loss in the Coronavirus Pandemic: Effects and Solutions” organized by the Ministry of Education began on Monday under the auspices of Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education.
Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, and a number of experts from UNICEF, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the International Association for Educational Achievement Assessment (IEA) attended the virtual symposium.
The symposium is aimed at teachers, administrators, supervisors, social and psychological specialists, students, and their parents in different governorates, as well as those concerned from the ministry, and a number of government and private agencies. ....

'Build Back Stronger Colorado' report shows divergent areas of focus for federal stimulus


Coloradans who participated in a 12-day whirlwind tour of the state by elected officials had lots of ideas on how Colorado should spend an expected $3.9 billion federal windfall expected later this year. 
The tour, known as the Build Back Stronger Colorado tour, was initiated by Gov. Jared Polis and legislative leaders. Although Polis announced in-person stops in Pueblo and Grand Junction, the majority of the tour was conducted via Zoom. The tour was divided into seven statewide regions,  drawing input from 10 specific focus areas, including  Asian-Americans, Latinos and African-Americans; child care; rural and agricultural interests; clean energy and conservation; local governments and healthcare. ....

After a year of mixed remote and in-person learning, many Colorado families are worried their kids fell behind academically. But summer tutoring programs could help them catch up.
Jennifer Bellestri, executive director of Colorado’s Sylvan Learning Centers talked about how to measure learning loss and decide what’s best for students.

DENVER With just weeks left in the school year in Colorado, kids of all ages are looking forward to summer break. Kaylyn Townsend, a junior at Golden High School, said this was her hardest school year ever.
