It is for the maximum number of bikes going over a person in record time On the afternoon of April 24, Pradeep Babu set out from his home in Chennai’s KK Nagar to the YMCA Grounds in Nandanam. The sun was ablaze, but nothing could deter him from his mission. The sound of 1,222 bikes revving up echoed in the air as he reached his destination. He took a deep breath and lay on the ground. Over the next 37 minutes and 16 seconds, all 1,222 bikes made their way over his body, setting him a new Noble World Record (an independent non-governmental organisation based in Lucknow) for the maximum number of bikes going over the chest of a person in record time. “I had practised for 11 years for that one day. The previous record was set by my master, Hanshi Geribala, where 1,001 bikes went over him in 43.01 minutes,” says the fifth Dan (Designee) black belt holder and member of the All India Zen Isshinryu Karate Association. ....

Sports April 27, 2021 KARACHI: Pakistan’s premier karateka Saadi Abbas will fly out of Dubai for Lisbon, Portugal, on Wednesday (tomorrow) to feature in the Karate-1 Premier League slated to be held from April 30 to May 2 at the Altice Arena Sports Hall. The event is included in the Olympic qualification process and it is one of the last opportunities for karate athletes to make it to the Olympics by standings. Saadi currently holds 24th spot in the Olympics rankings and Lisbon’s event will help him to get some more experience ahead of the World Qualifying round which is pencilled in for June 11-13 in Paris from where three fighters from each weight category will make it to the Olympics. ....
Police respond to break-in at CHB College 16 Mar, 2021 10:13 PM 2 minutes to read CHB Mail Central Hawke s Bay Police are asking for information after a break-in at Central Hawke s Bay College on Monday night. Constable Andy Walker said the karate dojo on the college grounds was broken into and extensively damaged, while an attempt had also been made to enter the college canteen. Suspicious activity has also been reported on Domain Road, Abbotsford Road and Matthew Street in Waipawa where residents have reported someone trying to get into houses. On Tuesday night a resident in Domain Road was woken by someone trying to gain access through the front door. Thankfully the banging woke the resident who turned on lights and called Police, says Constable Walker. ....
