Briefs: Marion County manufacturer helps battle hunger Marion Star Local manufacturer helps battle hunger on campus during the pandemic MARION - Sakamura, USA, Inc. recently delivered a donation of 600 pounds of food to the Marion Campus Food Pantry. The pantry supports students from The Ohio State University Marion and Marion Technical College who may be experiencing food insecurity due to a lack of money and access to nutritious food. The food was donated by employees of Sakamura. Manager of Mental Health and Wellness Services and advisor for the Buckeye Food Alliance Leslie Beary, who oversees operation of the pantry for the campus, said this was one of the largest donations they have ever received. ....
Marion Public Health may soon vaccinate younger teens pending state approval Correction: A previous version of this story stated the Marion Public Health clinic at Ohio State Marion was being held Wednesday. In an effort to get more people vaccinated, providers in Marion County could offer the COVID-19 shot to younger teens as soon as this week. The news comes as the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine for adolescents ages 12 to 15 Monday. The advisory committee for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will then meet Wednesday to make a decision. If approved, the age group could begin getting vaccinated as early as Thursday. ....
