Two new bills currently in the California Legislature threaten educational options for families. Assembly Bill 1316 and SB593 propose to change how Calaveras County families can access education. AB1316 is an 80-plus-page bill addressing audit and accounting standards, funding, independent study, contracts, attendance, teacher assignments, school calendars and oversight. Liberty High School had a higher graduation rate than Golden Valley Unified District s overall graduation rate at 96.4 percent, according to the California Department of Education. In comparison, Golden Valley Unified District had a graduation rate of 92.9 percent for the 2017-2018 school year. According to CDE data, graduation rates continue to indicate an increase in disproportional academic performance between white, Black, Latino, and English learner students.
