Security Guard Under Investigation, Accused Of Shooting Homeless Man At Taco Bell In Downtown OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY -
A metro security guard is under investigation by multiple law agencies following a weekend shooting in downtown Oklahoma City.
Police arrested Antjuan Martin, 48, on Friday after he allegedly shot a homeless man during an altercation.
News 9 obtained cell phone video of the scene at Taco Bell near Sheridan Avenueand Classen Boulevard. The victim was on the ground in the parking lot, and it appeared Martin was walking the scene.
Police said it all started when Bradley Bishop, 25, refused to leave the restaurant.
“An altercation ensued between the two and at some point, the security guard unholstered his weapon and fired several times as the individual was walking away,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department. ....

1 Person Dead Following NW OKC House Fire

A house fire left one person dead. It happened early Sunday morning near Northwest 23rd and MacArthur.
My brothers and my dad tried to go open the doors since we know it s always unlocked,” a neighbor said. There was just smoke, and we couldn t get to her.
Other neighbors were in shock after learning someone on their block died overnight.

Metro Police Agencies Face New Challenges For Hiring Officers

OKLAHOMA CITY -
A number of metro police agencies are looking for recruits but report having a tough time finding qualified applicants.
As some police agencies face defunding or cutbacks, the Oklahoma City Police Department has one of the largest budgets in history, and with that, comes new challenges.
The department introduced its 143rd academy Friday. The 25 recruits will face 28 weeks of training before they train in the field.
“That’s going to include mental health training, de-escalation, control and defense tactics,” Oklahoma City Police Department Sgt. Megan Morgan said. “It’s going to include training in driving and firearms.” ....
