New South Wales health officials are conducting genome sequencing after Sydney recorded a new community-transmitted case of COVID-19, with the ABC noting the man has likely been infected since Friday April 30, has not been overseas or worked in the quarantine system, and recorded a high viral load likely making him more infectious. Close contacts are in isolation and more cases are expected to be announced today.
NSW Health has listed at least 19 exposure sites across the city’s eastern suburbs, spanning Annandale, Balgowlah, Bondi Junction, Brookvale, Casula, Collaroy, Double Bay, Mascot, Moore Park, Paddington, Rose Bay, Rushcutters Bay, Silverwater and Sydney. Anyone who visited those venues, including those in other states, have been asked to immediately get tested and self-isolate. ....

The Morrison Government is investing almost $1.2 billion in Australia’s digital future through the Digital Economy Strategy, as part of this year’s Federal Budget.
The strategy outlines the policies and actions the Government is taking to grow Australia’s future as a modern and leading digital economy by 2030.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said one of our biggest challenges and opportunities turns on how we respond to the digital transformation occurring in every sector and every facet of our lives.

Govt to splash $1.3B on tech and regional connectivity

The federal government is planning to spend nearly $1.2 billion on its Digital Economy Strategy and $130.4 million for improved regional connectivity as part of the upcoming 2021-22 Budget. 
Scheduled to be released in its entirety from 11 May in the approaching Budget, the strategy is broadly set to offer investment towards emerging technologies, building digital skills, encouraging business investment opportunities and upgrading government service delivery. 
Headlining the technology spend is expected to be over $500 million for government services enhancements, with $301.8 million to go towards My Health Record and the expansion of the digital identity system and $200.1 million to overhaul the online government services portal myGov.   ....

Govt to continue My Health Record funding, promises revamp for myGov

The Australian government has promised $301.8 million in funding in next week’s federal budget to continue the operation of the My Health Record system, along with $200.1 million to overhaul myGov.
The government says the money is aimed at enhancing the My Health Record and expanding the “digital identity system”, but it is unclear as to whether it is new money or for continuing operations.
The last big funding boost for My Health Record was in 2019, when money was provided for its ongoing operation to Accenture until the end of the 2021 financial year. ....
