President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday afternoon met with the newly appointed Service Chiefs, charging them to be patriotic, and serve the country well.
His words:
“We’re in a state of emergency. Be patriotic, serve the country well, as your loyalty is to the country.”
The President congratulated the Service Chiefs on heading their various services, adding:
“There’s nothing I can tell you about the service because you are in it. I was also in it, and I will pray for you. I also assure you that whatever I can do as Commander-in-Chief will be done, so that the people will appreciate your efforts. ....

Restore Professionalism And Boost Morale Of Troops Urgently, PDP Tells Service Chiefs

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the new Services Chiefs to urgently restore professionalism and boost the morale of troops across the country. 
PDP in a statement on Tuesday asked the new leaders of the Armed Forces to ensure not to fall into the indolence, corruption, recklessness, abuse of process, and partisanship that characterized the tenure of the last service chiefs.
“The new commanders must note that Nigerians are looking up to them as professionals to remove terrorists, bandits, and other outlaws ravaging our nation from our landscape,” the PDP’s statement read in part.
The PDP further demanded an immediate inquest into the tenure of the last service chiefs to unravel the circumstances behind the security lapses and compromises as well as accusation of involvement in the alleged looting of funds meant for the equipping and welfare of our troops in the front. ....

President Buhari Meets With New Service Chiefs


 
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday met with the new service Chiefs.
The meeting was held behind closed-doors at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
This first meeting between the Commander-In-Chief and the new leaders of the Armed Forces is coming one day after the president accepted the immediate resignation of the older Service Chiefs and appointed new officers as replacements.
The new Service Chiefs are Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff. ....
