New Delhi [India], June 1 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired an important meeting regarding the prospect of Class 12 Board Examinations on Tuesday evening.
The meeting was attended by Union Ministers including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, Petroleum, Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, along with senior officials including Secretary of School Education and Higher Education.
Earlier today, official sources had informed ANI that PM Modi will be briefed on all possible options, as a result of the extensive discussions with all states and other stakeholders regarding the prospect of Class 12 Board Examinations. ....

CBSE board exams 2021: Class 12 examinations cancelled in view of COVID-19 pandemic
In the view of COVID-19 pandemic, CBSE Class 12 exams have been cancelled this year.
As reported by ANI, in view of uncertain conditions due to COVID-19 and feedback obtained from stakeholders, it has been decided that Class 12 Board Exams would not be held this year. CBSE to take steps to compile results of Class 12 students as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner.
Like last year, in case some students desire to take the exams, such an option would be provided to them by CBSE, as and when the situation becomes conducive. The results will be made as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner. ....

Second Big Cyclone in 10 Days Set to Worsen India's Virus Misery

(Bloomberg) A powerful cyclone is set to slam into India on Wednesday, the second in less than two weeks, with authorities gearing up for relief operations at a time when the nation is facing the world’s worst outbreak of Covid-19.
Cyclone Yaas, equivalent to a category 3 hurricane, will cause heavy rains in the eastern states of West Bengal and Odisha, with wind speeds as high as 185 kilometers (115 miles) per hour, according to the India Meteorological Department. Sea levels may increase 4 meters above regular tides and inundate low-lying areas, it said.
The latest storm follows a severe cyclone that hit the west coast last week the worst in over two decades in the western state of Gujarat killing dozens after a barge sank in the sea. The eastern region was hit by a cyclone in May 2020 with similar wind speeds, while another one in 2019 prompted authorities to evacuate millions of people. ....
