CHICAGO Police union boss John Catanzara s controversial Facebook posts could get him fired, the Chicago Police Board announced Thursday.
Catanzara faces misconduct charges related to posts on his personal Facebook page, including a call to kill these m , and Savages they all deserve a bullet.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability recommended Catanzara s termination. But Police Supt. David Brown objected to firing the police union boss, and recommended a one-year suspension instead.

Mellody Hobson, a Princeton graduate who in 2019 earned the Woodrow Wilson Award, the university’s highest honor, was named Chairwoman of the Board of Starbucks.
With the promotion, Hobson becomes the only African American woman to chair a Fortune 500 company.

Discover might open call center in former Chatham Target store, hire 1,000 workers

Discover Financial Services is considering whether to convert a former Target store into a call center with 1,000 jobs, potentially delivering a big economic win to the South Side after a year of setbacks.
A source confirmed Monday that Riverwoods-based Discover is in late-stage negotiations on a lease of the vacant store at 8560 S. Cottage Grove Ave. The deal with the credit card company could result in 1,000 new jobs over the next two or three years, but nothing is final, the source said.
Crain’s Chicago Business reported the potential deal last week.
The 126,500-square-foot building in Chatham is owned by DL3 Realty, which bought it and another store in Morgan Park when Target closed the two South Side locations in 2019. DL3 managing partner Leon Walker declined to confirm any discussions with Discover but said several large-scale users are interested in the property. ....

Chicago Startups Provide the Best Investment ROI, New Report Says

A new study just found that Chicago area startups provide investors the best return-on-investment (ROI) for their deals.
On Thursday, P33, World Business Chicago and ChicagoNEXT released “2020 Chicago VC Ecosystem,” a report that analyzed PitchBook data from 2006 to the end of the third quarter in 2020 to reveal that for the fourth year in a row Chicago-area companies offer investors the highest ROI. The Chicago area which researchers defined as all of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin awarded investors an average return 4.88 times higher than their initial investment.
P33 CEO Brad Henderson said the Chicago area’s high ROI is indicative of the quality of companies coming from the region. ....
