Sinikka Elliott was last seen Wednesday morning on the island before going out to run some errands. “The first 24 hours I kept . going like, ‘Oh my gosh like is this really happening?’” said friend and colleague Kerry Greer. “I was really confused, I felt really suspended, like my reality wasn’t the same.” ....

- - - Salt Spring Island RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a UBC professor who hasn’t been seen since she left home to do some errands. Police received a report Sinikka Gay Elliott, 51, was missing at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. A search began with police and search-and-rescue personnel. Elliott’s car was located empty about 9:30 p.m. on Juniper Place Road. Both family members and police are concerned for her well-being. Elliott, an associate professor in the sociology department at UBC, is five-foot-three with a slim build and short, dark-brown hair. She was wearing a red sweater, jeans and brown boots. ....
