Using e-mail By Christian Shelton04 February 2021 Load handling equipment specialist Hiab has signed an agreement to supply Munich, Germany-headquartered Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) with up to 4,000 Multilift hooklifts by 2027. This would have a value of more than €180 million (US$218 million), said Hiab. The initial order, booked in 2020, is for 540 units. Hiab has also signed an agreement with its Swiss Hiab dealer Notterkran to supply 110 Multilift hooklifts for use by the Swiss Army. ....
Rheinmetall, MBDA Win Contract for High-energy Laser System Germany’s Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has awarded a consortium, or ARGE, consisting of MBDA Deutschland GmbH and Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH a contract to fabricate, integrate and support testing of a laser weapon demonstrator in the maritime environment. The order value is in the low double-digit million euro range. Work will be shared out on a roughly equal basis. MBDA Deutschland is responsible for tracking, the operator’s console and linking the laser weapon demonstrator to the command-and-control system. Rheinmetall is in charge of the laser weapon station, the beam guiding system, cooling, and integration of the laser weapon system into the project container of the laser source demonstrator. ....

The consortium, dubbed ARGE, was awarded a contract “in the low double-digit million euro range” by Germany’s military procurement office, the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support. Work will be conducted through the end of 2021, with trials scheduled for 2022 aboard the Navy frigate Sachsen, per a joint announcement released Thursday. ....
