Coronavirus outbreak: Valley smells political discrimination state's vaccine distribution

Many in the Valley are smelling political discrimination in the Jammu and Kashmir government’s vaccine distribution policy as BJP stronghold Jammu city has clocked nearly 100 per cent inoculation of the 45-plus population with the first dose while Srinagar city remains starved at 35 per cent.
While Jammu is the winter capital of the fledgling Union Territory, Srinagar is the summer capital.
The cries of bias have only got shriller after the administration of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha failed to administer even a single jab in Srinagar city in the past four days while Jammu city fared better with 14,714 jabs.
According to official figures on Sunday, Jammu had administered the first dose of anti-Covid vaccine to 5,63,880 people in the above-45 category, or 99.39 per cent of the total beneficiaries in this group. ....

SRINAGAR: Former minister in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and Senior political leader Imran Raza Ansari on Monday resigned from the post of General Secretary of Sajad Gani Lone led Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference.
Taking to social networking site Twitter, Imran Raza Ansari wrote: “As our Party @JKPC is growing and lots of leaders have started joining this caravan of change I am requesting my party President @sajadlone to accept my resignation from post of General Secretary effective today.”

The exit of the People’s Conference has seemingly left the PAGD adrift. The five-party alliance including big players like National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have not met for nearly two months now.
Seemingly, the PAGD is disinterested in the elections to the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons which they have lost in six out of 13 where they had the mandate when results were declared on December 22 last year.
