After months of delay due to the pandemic, Space Sweepers, one of the most anticipated high budget South Korean sci-fi action films of the year, has found a home on Netflix and is providing movie fans an opportunity to see what the first blockbuster Korean space opera looks like. Now, director Jo Sung-hee, as well as members of the high-profile cast Song Joong-ki, Kim Tae-ri, Jin Seon-kyu and Yoo Hae-jin are inviting everybody on board as Space Sweepers launched on the streaming service last week to subscribers in 190 countries.

After Korea s first sci-fi blockbuster set in space, Space Sweepers, conquered Netflix s global Top Movies chart just a day after its debut, Daum and Kakaopage launched the international premiere of a webtoon based on the film s premise, with the same title and characters, in North America, Japan, Indonesia and France, Feb. 8.
The comic Space Sweepers was first published in this form in Korea back on May 26, 2020, and so far is comprised of 20 episodes that have had more than 5.5 million views.
On Feb. 8, it premiered on four web comic platforms ― North America s Tapas, Japan s Piccoma, Kakaopage Indonesia, and France s Delitoon. Kakaopage announced that it is also working on releasing the webtoon in other countries, including Thailand and Taiwan.

After topping in almost 16 countries on its first day, Netflix originals Space Sweepers is continuously proving its popularity in different parts of the world.
In a recent interview, Descendants of the Sun, actor Song Joong Ki shared his thoughts about his portrayal as a father in the latest sci-fi film Space Sweepers.

Song Joong Ki played the character of Tae Ho, a former master of the UTS SWAT team, and later on, became a pilot of the spaceship Victory. After experiencing many ups and downs in his life, he will do anything just to make a lot of money.
