Coronavirus NSW Update: Restrictions to ease Friday after no new cases recorded


No new cases of locally acquired COVID-19 were recorded overnight with four cases in hotel quarantine.
In light of low case numbers Premier Gladys Berejiklian confirmed the state would scrap the four-square metre rule for all hospitality venues this week.

As of 12:01am on Friday, all indoor and outdoor venues will have their capacity increased to allow for one patron every two-square metres.
Gyms will not be included in the relaxation due to being deemed a high risk setting for the spread of the virus. ....

NSW records four locally acquired coronavirus cases as concern mounts over community transmission

NSW has recorded another four locally acquired coronavirus cases as authorities continue to appeal to residents to get tested. 
Acting Premier John Barilaro on Wednesday announced the state had recorded four cases of community transmission in the 24 hours to 8pm on Tuesday, as well as one overseas case from 32,667 tests.
Two of the local cases related to the Berala cluster, one was a household contact of a case in Avalon and the other - a man in his 30s from Western Sydney - is still under investigation.

Coalition brawl brewing over COVID lockdown


Tensions are rising within the State Government s senior ranks over COVID lockdown settings, as key ministers push back with increased force against chief health officer Kerry Chant s bid to tighten restrictions.

There were 10 new cases diagnosed on Thursday from almost 28,000 tests with all but one linked to known clusters. Three new cases were recorded on Friday.
While Dr Chant has had the ear of Premier Gladys Berejiklian, senior figures in the Coalition have adamantly opposed a further clampdown.
Those believed to have vigorously advocated for opening up include Jobs and Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres and Treasurer Dominic Perrottet. ....
