Pakistan Humanitarian Response Plan 2021 launched

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) for the year 2021 was launched in Islamabad on Wednesday with a commitment to provide basic necessities and services to all residents of the country, in all situations, without any discrimination.
The Humanitarian Response Plan 2021 was launched in collaboration with the United Nations.
In his address at the Joint Launch event of Pakistan Humanitarian Response Plan 2021, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the plan is intended to strengthen Pakistan’s capacity in the prevention, preparedness, and response to disasters including through the provision of relief services by building cross-institutional and stakeholder linkages.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, in Nairobi to discuss issues surrounding refugees and asylum seekers in the region. The discussions also involved a briefing on the status of Kakuma and Dadaab refugees camps, following the UN High Commissioner’s meeting with Cabinet Secretaries Dr. Fred Matiang’i and Amb. Raychelle Omamo.
The meeting comes following the Government’s communicated intention to work toward the closure of the refugee camps in Kenya. A joint team comprising officials from the Government and the UN agency will be formed to finalize and implement plan on the next steps towards a humane management of refugees in both camps.
