Date Time Pathway to Success Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan today toured the completed Tulloh Street footpath constructed by Colac Otway Shire and developed under the Morrison Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. “I commend Colac Otway Shire Council in using this funding stream to improve the quality, accessibility, and safety of their footpaths within the shire. Other footpaths constructed under the LRCI program include Corangamite Lake Road, Cororooke; College Drive, Lavers Hill; Thompson Street, Apollo Bay, Road; and Main Street, Gellibrand. “The works will include the reconstruction and strengthening of the pedestrian pathways, creating a safer environment for pedestrians in Colac, Cororooke and across the shire,” said Mr Tehan. ....
Date Time Funding Support for Irrewillipe Road Basin Upgrade Colac Otway Shire Council will allocate $1.212 million towards a project which will have significant residential, environmental and recreational benefits for the Colac area, if it gains matching Federal Government funding. The upgrade of the Irrewillipe Road Retarding Basin would unlock land for housing lots in Elliminyt, improve the quality of stormwater entering Lake Colac and provide water for nearby sporting facilities including Colac Racecourse, Colac Golf Club and Elliminyt Recreation Reserve. Council voted last night to commit funding in the 2021-22 Budget to support a grant application to the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund for the project, and negotiate opportunities for private investment from land developers to support residential development, with Council recouping its expenditure over time. ....

Shane Vicary is Colac Otway’s 2021 Citizen of the Year Outstanding local role model, Shane Vicary is Colac Otway Shire Council’s 2021 Citizen of the Year. A business leader in the Colac Otway community, Shane showed great foresight and initiative by gathering together influential people of the Colac Otway community to establish Colac’s Community Leadership Group. The Community Leadership Group was integral in preparing Colac Otway for the coronavirus pandemic and, after a local COVID outbreak, uniting the community with a campaign to ‘Keep Colac Safe’ and look out for one another. Shane was one of five award recipients who received a Colac Otway Community Award at the ceremony at Colac. The other recipients were Harold Cockerell who was recognised for his Community Service, Harry Salmon for Services to Sports, members of The Colac Makers’ Space who were recognised for their service to Arts and Bonni McLaren who is Colac Otway’s Young Person of the Yea ....
