Dept. of Energy awards $4.15M to Argonne National Lab to support work with industry


Argonne will partner with companies from across the U.S. on eight efforts.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced over $30 million in federal funding, matched by over $35 million in private sector funds, for 68 projects that will accelerate the commercialization of promising energy technologies ranging from clean energy and advanced manufacturing, to building efficiency and next-generation materials.
DOE s Argonne National Laboratory was awarded $4.15 million in federal funds, cost-shared by industry partners in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.

NMSU leads clean energy 'cluster' initiative

SANTA FE, N.M. Old electric vehicle batteries could soon provide backup storage power for renewable generation systems through a local startup, UpCycle Power, which plans to repurpose used car batteries for clean-energy markets.
The company won a $5,000 first-place prize last March at Arrowhead Innovation Fund’s 2021 pitch competition at New Mexico State University after UpCycle founder Sydney Lienemann received in-depth mentoring and assistance from NMSU to turn her innovative idea into a marketable product.
The Foster Innovation Exchange Prototyping Lab at New Mexico State University has supported the development of a complex prototype for Evus, a startup creating a technology intended to mitigate scaling and fouling formation in all water filtration plant and heat transfer systems.
