Presidential Mountain Resort to expand in Bethlehem March 10, 2021BETHLEHEM Development plans have changed for the Presidential Mountain Resort in Bethlehem. Rather than constructing a Hilton Hotel on the north side of Route 302 as initially planned, owner Yitz Rudich intends to add more freestanding cabins this spring. David Eckman of Eckman Engineering told Planning Board officials last week that the hotel was no longer deemed financially viable. He presented informal, conceptual plans for an additional six to twelve cabin units to complement the existing destination resort across the street. According to documents filed at the Bethlehem Town Hall, Eckman plans to utilize the existing parking, entrances and landscaping on the 42-acre lot for the new development. While Rudich has yet to determine the number of units to be installed, each 685 square-foot cabin would measure approximately 24 by 28 feet, with two bedrooms and a loft area. Cub Scouts build new birdhouses for MCS click for larger version) March 10, 2021MOULTONBOROUGH A bunch of new birdhouses are now posted around Moultonborough Central School thanks to the work of a local Cub Scout pack. Cub Scout Pack 369 of Moultonborough and Sandwich has been building new birdhouses to replace older ones around the school, a project that has been in the works since before the pandemic. Troop members and scout leaders finally got the opportunity to install birdhouses this Sunday. A number of birdhouses have been stood around MCS for several years. Incoming scoutmaster Bob Patterson said some scouts noticed that the birdhouses around the school were in poor condition or falling apart. ....
SPRUCE PINE â Mayland Community College is giving a new meaning to night life with the reopening of the Bare Dark Sky Observatory for community viewing nights and the expansion of its Earth to Sky Park, among other projects. The observatory officially held its grand reopening on Saturday, March 6, and welcomed guests to the observatoryâs viewing area for members of the community to peer into the heavens. The reopening comes after the college completed renovations to the site, which saw the addition of eight telescope viewing stations for guests to bring their own equipment to use whether the observatory is open or not. Additionally, the renovations added a handicap-accessible ramp, a garden filled with native plants, a picnic shelter, paved parking spaces and other outdoor amenities. ....
