Provincial Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh announced in Sindh Assembly on Thursday that the provincial government is ready to take on power utility companies for their failure to supply electricity in the province.
Addressing the house, Shaikh referred to the hourslong loadshedding in various districts of Sindh and said, “Power companies have made the life of people miserable.” He added that the Sindh government itself is not generating the power, but is involved in mining of coal in Thar.
He was of the view that Sindh government own five wind power projects, but federal government was unwilling to notify the same and finalise the tariff requirement. “In the best interest of people of Sindh, we are willing to take over Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) and Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SEPCO), which have failed badly in supply ....

The Provincial Assembly of Sindh has been assured that the issue of payment and employment of daily wage earners associated with the Sindh House in Islamabad will be resolved soon.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla made this assurance on Monday while responding to a calling-attention notice of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Jamaluddin Siddiqi. Chawla said that the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party believes in providing job opportunities to the people. Siddiqi informed the PA that daily wage earners associated with the Sindh House, run by the provincial government, have not been paid for the past several months. ....

Sindh govt unaware of exact livestock numbers in province, PA told - Newspaper


KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Abdul Bari Pitafi on Monday informed the provincial assembly that two Congo virus cases were reported in Sindh in the recent past and that the two were traced to animals brought from Balochistan.
Furnishing a statement and replying to the written and verbal queries of lawmakers during Question Hour in the house, he said animals act as a reservoir for the virus, which remained ‘asymptomatic’ (without showing any sign and didn’t cause any major pathological lesion).
“The virus is zoonotic in nature which causes infection to humans while in contact with infected or reservoir animals through ticks. The majority of cases were reported in people involved in the livestock business, such as livestock farm workers, butchers and veterinarians. Congo virus infection is most commonly reported in the Afghan border region of Balochistan. Some studies suggested that cases of Congo virus in humans are the coinciding event durin ....

PA passes bill to raise parliamentary secretaries’ salaries and allowances

The Provincial Assembly of Sindh on Thursday passed a bill to increase the salaries, allowances and other privileges available to the parliamentary secretaries in the House.
Five lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are working as parliamentary secretaries for the provincial government’s departments of local government, food, law, irrigation and Zakat & Ushr.
After the passage of the Sindh Parliamentary Secretaries (Salaries, Allowances and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill 2021, each of the five lawmakers will receive a special allowance of Rs50,000 and a sumptuary allowance of Rs10,000 every month. ....
