At least 7 MPs will be asking questions on erroneous clearance of 70ha Kranji woodlands in Parliament


The clearance of Kranji woodland has sparked intense discussions over the balance between conservation and development.
This comes after the recent public debates over Dover forest and Clementi forest, which have caused Singaporeans to be concerned about the loss of green spaces that have rich biodiversity and important ecological functions.
Kranji woodland cleared by mistake
The forested land at Kranji Road/Close, with the old rail corridor running through, was among plots of land earmarked for the development of the Agri-Food Innovation Park (AFIP).
JTC said on Feb. 16 that the contractor had erroneously cleared parts of the 70-hectare woodland and the agency is investigating what had led to this mistake and determining if the company should be penalised further. ....

Range of co-funding schemes to help firms transform and scale up


Local companies can tap a range of avenues to access capital that they may need to innovate, transform and scale up their businesses.
To catalyse the flow of capital and bridge market gaps, the Government will step up risksharing arrangements with providers of capital and provide grants to support businesses at various stages of growth, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said yesterday.
For high-growth companies including start-ups, the Venture Debt Programme will be extended and enhanced - with an increase in the cap on loan quantum support from $5 million to $8 million.
With this, we expect about $45 million of venture debt to be catalysed over the next year, Mr Heng said. ....
